Adventures in Penang

Caitlyn came and visited; she left early this morning. It was wonderful to have a good friend here, and she was great to explore the island with. I feel like I have seen so much this week because we were always busy and running around. We did many touristy things here in Penang, including explore downtown, see lots of temples, eat various local foods, go to the beach, get stung by unidentified living organisms in the ocean, ride many buses, and of course be attacked by monkeys. I am going to detail all the stories in the following entries, separated for your reading convenience (and for picture posting purposes!). Andrew, who is the other person on my program, arrived yesterday, so I have been showing him around a bit and making plans for all the things we want to do here. It's strange having another person in the apartment and being able to talk to someone who is in a very similar position as me. (Strange because I got used to being alone these past three weeks, but definitely great at the same time.) There is a music festival downtown this weekend as well as some beach parties, so it should be an eventful time!
