Langkawi - tropical beaches and monkey attacks

Langkawi is an island north of Penang (a 3hr ferry ride) right on the border of Thailand. Caitlyn and I went there for the weekend to be on the beach and relax, which was nice because we had done a lot of running around the city and needed a break. Anna and the King was filmed there, for those of you who have seen it.
We arrived on Saturday around noon and found a little hotel that has these small huts right on the beach. We got lunch (on the beach!), and went on an island hopping tour. Langkawi is made up of 100 or so small islands, and one big one, so we got on this little boat that went insanely fast and took us to various islands. One had a freshwater lake, one had a nice beach, and all had many monkeys that had no fear of us tourists. One family decided to feed them fruit, which resulted in many monkeys running around and chasing the little children as their father filmed. One island had a snack bar that left a trash bag out so I have some pictures of monkeys drinking coke from the can and eating bags of potato chips. These places all warn you about aggressive monkeys with signs such as "PLASTIC BAG dont bring - monkey attack." We also fed eagles - our boat driver dropped a bunch of chicken into the water so all the eagles (there were a LOT) would swoop down into the water to eat it. They are so gorgeous, it was amazing.
Sunday we got up and lay on the beach and then got breakfast. We then went to ride cable cars up to the top of this hill. The view was AMAZING until we went into a cloud and everything turned white. We also found this park there that had an insane amount of bunnies hopping around, so we fed them. We walked around this shopping center for a bit, and then needed to leave to catch our ferry home. As we were leaving, this man put a HUGE snake on me and made me hold it and said it was "friendly." It was creepy and really, really heavy and big and would try to crawl all over me and I couldn't control it. Caitlyn ran away and took pictures from afar.
Overall it was a good weekend trip, and I am excited to do more. There are many islands around here with many beaches, some nicer than others, and I am excited to explore!
