"The future ain't what it used to be" - Yogi Berra

AirAsia, the budget airline here, is having a massive sale where all their tickets are free (yes, FREE) so all you pay is tax. I have decided to use this opportunity to go...well, everywhere. (I almost got a ticket to China but had to tell myself no.) I basically picked some random dates and booked some tickets. It feels strange to plan the summer already, but here's what I got so far:
March 31st - April 13th, Vietnam
I am going with Kit to travel for two weeks and meet our good friend Don from last semester who is now living there with his family (he is Vietnamese-Canadian). I think the plan is to fly into Hanoi and work our way down to Ho Chi Minh on trains, stopping at Hue (from which we can visit the DMZ!). We will meet Don in Saigon, spend some time with him, and then take a really long train ride back to Hanoi to fly home. I have been reading lots of travel books!
May 8 - 22, Java, Indonesia
I am flying to Solo, which is about an hour away from Yogyakarta, and spending most of the weeks in Yogya, which is supposed to be a great city! I'll of course take day trips too to surrounding areas - temples, volcanoes, etc.
June
Although this is not planned and probably won't be until right before, I'd like to spend the month in Thailand and Laos. I'll probably go to Bangkok, work my way up to Chiang Mai and the mountains, go into northern Laos and down to Vientiane, and back to Bangkok.
July 6 - 26, Burma
I am flying from Bangkok to Yangon and spending three weeks traveling around with my friend Keith, who has been there before and claims it is the "best country ever."
August
I am considering doing a program in Nepal through an NGO, where I would live with a family and volunteer in an orphanage for one month. I am still unsure about this - will I be tired after so much traveling and want to go home? but I'll be in the same place all month in Nepal so perhaps it won't be too tiring, and it is a great opportunity. Do I even have enough money to do this?!
After that...come home? find a job? apply to grad school? possibly in Southeast Asian art? who knows....
